This summer the hubs and I stole away for two nights and did something just for us. For his birthday in March I had given him 2 tickets to a Boston Redsox game (his favorite team). The closest place to us that they were playing was Houston, TX-so away we went.
We stayed at the Hotel Icon and it was like stepping into a 1920’s movie. I never wanted to leave. The turndown and valet services were so wonderful, we actually said to ourselves that we felt bad because we could do all of those things for ourselves. But we ate it up.
Once we got to our room, we knew that we were going to have a splendid time.
Beautiful right?!
And now for a girl’s favorite part…the bathroom!
(Excuse the picture quality, they were taken with my phone.)
Let me just say that Nate just about had to drag me out of this place. My big pregnant self just wanted to sit on the bed and enjoy the peace and quiet and be spoiled. But we had lots more to do on our baby moon!
Our first stop after dropping off our bags was the Kema Boardwalk. This was about 30 minutes away and it was just the cutest little place. It was really a boardwalk with restaurants, vendors selling fair food, games for kids, and beautiful weather.
We walked and walked and walked. There were even fair rides. And if I weren’t 5 months pregnant, I would have been like a kid in a candy store!
Landry’s was our choice for supper and it was scrumptious.
After the board walk, we loaded back up and made our way back to the hotel. The swelling feet were a sign that it was time.
The next day was the big game. Boston vs. the Houston Astros. I was so scared for Nate to wear his Boston apparel because of possible ridicule but when we got there it seemed as if there were more Boston fans that Astro fans! Boy, was I relieved.
And we ended up sitting in what seemed to be a whole section designated for Boston fans. This little mama could relax. I would definitely be leaving with my baby daddy in one piece!
Nathan got to see all of his favorite players plays (don’t ask me who they are) and I got to eat all of my favorite foods. Coke, baseball game hotdogs, and cotton candy! Whoo I was a happy girl :)
The picture doesn’t prove it, but we actually had great seats. Nate loved the game and I loved seeing him so excited! A Babymoon getaway was exactly what we needed!
And lastly (to make the trip even better), on the way back home we saw this road sign:
I mean, seriously! How perfect is that! This will be going onto a canvas in Baby Boy’s room. What a way to end our wonderful trip with just the two of us…a reminder of the wonderful blessing that’s to come.
